Darkest Shore is known as a particularly spooky experience for any player who's ever wished Call of Duty Zombies would explore its horrific themes more often. Its mechanics still don't compare to most of what Treyarch has done, but WW2 gets the most props of any non-Treyarch Call of Duty Zombies mode for what it manages to pull off. It has a bad reputation within the community due to a weak launch, sadly, but any players willing to re-explore WW2 Zombies in 2023 will find a more polished experience loaded with interesting and surprisingly gritty maps. WW2: Sledgehammer's second crack at a Zombies mode feels leagues stronger than its first. Like BO1, fans furiously debate the best map from this game, but Mob of the Dead and Die Rise tend to come up the most. It is unfortunate that it's the only game of the original BO trilogy to not include any older maps as DLC. In the present day, though, it's easy to see that Black Ops 2 Zombies aged fairly well and produced some of the best maps and new ideas the mode has ever seen. There were so many new ideas stuffed into this Zombies mode between the PvP Turned mode, the hybrid multimap Tranzit, the massive robots of Origins, and so many other things that it felt overwhelming to players at the time. Fans consistently debate the best map in Black Ops, but Ascension deserves its props for balancing things that every Zombies player enjoys while feeling completely original from anything that came before or that has happened since.īlack Ops 2: Call of Duty Black Ops 2 certainly takes a "throw everything and see what sticks" approach to its Zombies mode, and it's surprisingly effective. It also throws in all the maps from World at War with a number of upgrades that make this the optimal way to experience those locales. This is the game that truly established the idea of larger maps loaded with obscure Easter eggs that can add a lot to the story or grant the players powerful upgrades/weapons that wouldn't be accessible otherwise. Chaos was easily the best part about that game.Black Ops 1: The first Black Ops title takes the base that World at War established and runs with it in a way that many still consider the peak of the game mode to this day. I think the originality of chaos more than makes up for it imho. Do I think they were bad? Two of them were. I thought they helped make the gameplay faster.Ībout the dlc maps, yes they were re-imaginings. I thought the gameplay was fast and energetic, and I loved all of the different enemy types that were in the game. I loved weapon kits, and the gameplay didn’t feel slow at all, actually quite the opposite. I loved being able to stack my perks and create my own build. Bloodwolf Bite is probably my favorite and I wish it came back, that perk was like the scavenger part of Vulture aid on steroids. Jugg was too necessary anyway and it was a breath of fresh air not having to pick it up every game, and I love the other perks in Bo4 too. I thought 4 hits and no Jugg in the game was just fine, no issues there. Simply go to /r/CODZombies or set the Redesign as your default experience in preferences.
